Bake 35 - 40 minutes round cake pans Takes time to raise
4 - 5 cups flour
2 packages active dry yeast
2 - 3 tsp cardamom
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 cup candied citron
1 cup raisins golden

In large mixer bowl combine 1 1/2 cups of flour with the yeast and cardamom. In sauce pan heat together milk, sugar, butter and salt, just to warm (125 degrees), stir occasionally. Add to dry mixture in mixer bowl. Add egg and 1 more cup flour. Beat at low speed for 1/2 minute, then beat at high speed for 3 minutes. By hand, stir in citron & raisins, and enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn on floured board and knead 8 to 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl, turning once to grease surface. Cover and let rise till double in size. 1 to 1- 1/4 hours. Punch down, divide dough in half. Cover and let rest 10 minutes. Shape into 2 loaves. Place in greased, round cake pans. Let rise until double. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Brush with butter when removing from oven.
