Xmas Cut Out Cookies

10 - 12 minutes Pre-heat oven to 350 cookie sheet
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp cream of tarter
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp nutmeg
3 cups flour

Cream butter, sugar & eggs. Add flour mixed with cream of tarter, soda & salt: stir thoroughly, add vanilla. Cool in refrigerator until easy to handle (about one hour). Roll on floured board and cut out in desired shapes. Can sprinkle with colored sugar, if desired. Bake 350 degrees 10 - 12 minutes. Cookies not sprinkled with sugar may be frosted and decorated. (leave a few burnt, unfrosted for Dad).
