coarse salt

vinegar

sugar

powdered alum

mustard seed

celery seed

turmeric
Slice fresh pickles (small cucumbers) paper thin. Sprinkle with course salt. Let stand 3 hours. Drain but do
not wash. Add vinegar, sugar, alum, mustard seed, celery seed and turmeric. Bring to a boil. Put hot
pickles in sterilized pint jars (still hot) Wipe rim clean and put on sealing lid. Makes about 12 pints.
