Tamale Pie

1 1/2 lbs Ground Beef
1 onion chopped
1 can chilis chopped
salt
2 Tbl chili powder
4 cloves garlic pressed
1 Tbl tomato paste
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp cumin ground
1/4 tsp cayenne
28 ounce tomatoes diced
2 cans beans
1 1/2 cups corn frozen
8 ounce Monterey Jack cheese
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup cornmeal yellow
6 Tbl sugar
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
8 Tbl butter melted and cooled
2 large eggs
4 tsp lime juice

Brown ground beef, chili s and onions and drain, return to pan and mix in spices and set aside. Drain beans
and hominy mix in a large bowl with tomatoes and corn, stir in cheese and finally the ground beef mixture.
Pour into 13x9 pan.
Mix the dry ingredients, flour, corn meal, baking powder, salt, sugar and baking soda in a large bowl with a
whisk. Melt butter, add buttermilk to cool and beat in eggs. Pour wet mixture over dry and whisk to combine.
Spread over the beef and bean mixture, sealing the edges.
Bake at 375 for 45 minutes.
